Dear Martial Arts Enthusiasts,
I will spend more than 10 weeks in Nanjing for an internship this summer and am therefore looking for advice
about teachers in town. Unfortunately I do not know yet in which district in Nanjing I will be located, but any
general advice about teachers there will be greatly appreciated.
Due to the shortness of my stay I would prefer to learn some Tongbei, Xingyi or Baji, or anything where i can
repeat movements or short forms zillions of times so that they turn into power or principles that are not lost
in case I cannot continue this particular style in the future (I live in germany). In a perfect world I could
integrate these principles or this power into my "personal martial movement", when I come back home. I am
generally more interested in simple yet usefull excercises than in many techniques. Also am I generally more
interested in applicability and would rather learn one or two useful techniques perfectly than many beautiful
or fancy ones that are more "art" than "martial".
I have practised over 15 years of various asian and western martial arts, so I would not consider myself a beginner in
terms of body movement, and I think I will not be the slowest to pick up things. Besides that I am fluent in
mandarin and would have no problem to train in a chinese speaking environment (would even be great to improve my
chinese)=). Other than that, I love China, its people and its food and generally behave politely and respectfully
to everyone that crosses my path.
If no chinese martial arts teacher should be available i would be very thankful about any info
on bjj/boxing/sanda/muay thai gyms in town, so there is something I can train if it is not supposed to be cma.
Thank you very much for your advice and good luck to you all on your journeys!
