How much full contact fighting have you tried. I don´t mean in a ring or a cage, but on the street or in a bar etc..MMA is tough, but, it is still a sports competition with rules and regs. Strikes to the groin, throat, eyes not to mention biting etc... are not allowed and this is often enough to finish, if not effect drasticaly most combat situations. Different styles use different techniques and most systems when accompanied by an aggressive practitioner are effective. There are plenty of throws and grappling techniques within some of the kungfu systems, but, it is not always the smartest thing to use. Getting yourself stuck on the ground in a real fight can sometimes be dangerous situation, on the other hand sometimes not, it depends. You can not generalise. In a fight you are not usually faced with options. It is not the "best system" that wins, just the toughest, most aggressive, most powerful ( both internal/external strength ), technically skilled, don´t forget lucky and in most cases the attacker and not the defender that will walk away the victor. Of course you could just train kung fu as a way of getting to know the inner you and the world around you at the same time learning to take care yourself both on the street and health wise, but, that is another story!!! Violence is not the only answer!!
: Hmmm.
:
: I submit an arguement that Kung Fu
: is ineffective in a real fight, as
: evidenced in the UFC.
:
: Further it is an archaic throw-back
: that markets itself on the credo
: that 'mystesism can prevail over
: brawn'
:
: And what does Andrew do to dispel
: this theory?
:
: He show me a link to a MMA site
: which has a clip of a fight why
: merely re-enforces my arguement!
:
: 90% of fights, irrespective of the
: combatants is either over in 3
: seconds or ends-up on the ground.
:
: Who would you have as a bouncer at a
: pub?
:
: Who is going to win a fight between?
:
: a.) A burly 6ft5 110kgs guy who
: knows a
: bit of boxing
:
: b.) A 5ft 8 inch 75kg guy who has
: studied Kung Fu for his entire adult
: life and is a 3rd Dan?
:
: We all know the answer.
:
: Get to the gym, build muscle, learn
: to box a bit, learn how to ground
: fight.
