You're looking to spend the equivalent of what the Chinese students pay, but in American or Canadian dollars. Negotiating ,unfortunately, doesn't work very well. It's still very cheap considering that you will get living accomodations included in the price, as well as the fact that, well, there is nothing to blow money on in Chenjiagou, and Wenxian is not expensive at all. I don't remember quite well right now, but I think it was a couple of hundred dollars a month. Go for a month, see if you like it, then stay if you want. Check out the other schools as well - they have some great masters. Send me an email if you want and I'll point you in some directions

: Hi Jarek and other members. I've
: been
: putting off the decision to return
: to China and to this time, train at
: Chenjiagou but now need to get more
: proactive if i'm going to make this
: happen. I'd love to hear of your
: experiences in the area, checking
: out the local schools. My teacher in
: Australia has been practicing with
: Chen Xiaowang's family in Aus. I've
: been learning Chen Xiaowang's 38
: form, the 18 form and most recently
: Lao Jia this past year. I am still
: very much a beginner. I did check
: Daniel Poon's website and found it
: very interesting. It'd be great to
: get some up to date info though re:
: training personalised or group
: based? the mix of form / application
: / silk reeling / other practice,
: costs for foreigners (per week say)?
: I will probably stay 2-3 weeks. The
: only specific info would be whether
: as a vegetarian, i would be able to
: survive there for a couple of weeks.
: I have had no probs in other areas
: of China but found Henan challenging
: in this regard and figure that a
: smaller village may be more so. Any
: news or suggestions for other places
: to train would be great.
: Many thanks,
: Adam
