Posted by Phil This year instead of taking the usual international trips, I decided to do something I've always dreamed of. Visiting MLB parks across the United States. Previously I had been to only both New York stadiums Yankee and Shea, Fenway Park and Pro Players Stadium in Florida. The first weeked of the 2003 baseball season we decided to drive to Camden Yards in Baltimore which was around 3 1/2 hours from my home in NY. Next trip was to Las Vegas to coincide with visiting Edison Field on April 24th with my hometown Yankees playing. We drove from Vegas to the ballpark which turned out to be around a 4 1/2 hour drive. We stayed within walking distance of the ballpark at a local Motel 6 for under $50. After that trip I caught 3 games at Yankee Stadium (all loses for the locals). Then I checked the schedules for Chicago and found both the Cubs and Sox were both home at the same time the first weekend in May! Cubs playing in the afternoon and Sox in the evening.

Thanks guys for such a great and informative site!
I thought I'd give you my baseball roadtrip so far.
Camden Yards is a great place to see a ballgame. We loved everything about it. Great vantage points, food shops and stores. We didn't have tickets to Sunday's game but they had an area outside the ballpark called a scalper free zone, which we were able to purchase some great seats close to the Baltimore dugout for face value.
We even tried Boogs place and got his autograph. The Sox and Orioles split the 2 games we saw, including seeing Pedro pitch on Saturday, which the Orioles actually won in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Quite a different experience on the walk to the park admiring palm trees and jealous seeing so many people in shorts and T shirts. Our seats were outstanding in the club level between home and 3rd base. The local announcers were just a stones throw away from our seats. Edison Field gives you the superficial Disney touch with a waterfall in centerfield, fireworks to introduce the players and palm trees galore. Unfortunately for me the Yankees lost 6-2.
I hate to cut this short but will continue Part 2 later on.
