Your visit to Fenway in 2000 came at the time the previous ownership was trying to drum up support (public subsidy) for a new ballpark. Apparently, they felt that the best way to accomplish this was to let the park go to hell. The new crew has put some effort into dressing the place up a bit while they look into whether to renovate or replace the park. This season will see seats on top of the Green Monster (gotta get the $$ for the luxury tax somewhere) as well as expanded concessions as some of the support functions are moved to facilities out of the park. Granted, the seats will still be cramped and the bathrooms too crowded, but I hope they can find a way to save the place. The new parks are nice, particularly when they replace decrepit facilities like Riverfront and Three Rivers, but I still get a thrill seeing 20+ games a year on a field where the greatest players in the history of the game have played.
