using round numbers to make an easy example if we decide a guy should have 700 plate appearances to be an everyday guy that would give him 26 pa in 6 games. A guy with 350 plate appearances allowed in the regular season would be allowed 13.
6/162=.037 so however many pa a hitter was allowed times .037 would be what they get in the post season.
Example: player A has 412 Plate Appearances allowed in the regular season so 412x.037=15.24 so he would get 15 PA in 6 games.
I think for simplicity's sake I would say let's use .04 because it's a rounder number and gives a little cushion. Also, 700x.04 is 28 which is 4.6 PA/G and that's right on track. Most of the time the lead off batter gets 5 PA and the #9 hitter gets 4.
In my earlier example of 412 that guy would get 16 instead of 15
I would still advocate to decide on a cap and a floor so we would say anyone over 24PA is unlimited and anyone under 5PA is limited to actual for all 7 games similar to what we currently have.
I'm flexible on the numbers but want to see if everyone is onboard with the concept.
Secondly before we can finalize the numbers is everyone on board with the 6-game scale and unlimited game 7 or would you rather have a hard number for everyone in 7 games? Please only comment on this if you're opposed to our current 6 game formula.
Any ideas or opposition to this line of thought please respond to this message and let's discuss.
