Request for Information

I recently came into possesion of a bronze open double ended wrench. It is embossed with the AMPCO logo and the model number is apparently W-1216. One end is 2 3/4" and the other is 2 3/8" and the length is approximately 24". I am trying to track down an approximate manufacturing date, and what this non-sparking safety wrench may have been used for. I am guessing that it may have been associated with oil field work in Southern California, but any insights would be greatly appreciated.

AMPCO non-sparking bronze alloy hand tools go back to 1922 and are still sold today (very expensive)
(see their web site -- http://www.ampcosafetytools.com/about.htm )
W-1216 is not in their current catalog

Stan,

Thanks for the information. I emailed AMPCO, and have not received a reply. I purchased the wrench at a flea market for $40, and I think I got a pretty good deal just on the scrap value. I work in a field that values these kinds of tools, so it more a trophy piece than and investment.
