Rear Window and Blithedale

I was daydreaming at an academic conference and started thinking about the symilarities between L.B. Jeffries and Hawthorne's Miles Coverdale (another literary voyeur). Does anyone know of any proven connections between Woolrich and Hawthorne, particularly Hawthorne's "Blithedale Romance"?
