The afternoon includes cooking demonstrations by Ian Keith from Harvest at Rutgers Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health and Rachel Weston chef and author of “New Jersey Fresh: Four Seasons from Farm to Table”.
While you are here taste Rutgers Scarlet Lettuce™ grown by Edible Garden, a national brand grown by a co-op of local growers of fresh, hydroponic produce or sip a craft beer by River Horse brewery. “ Farmer’s Daughter” is a pale ale made from the Rutgers Scarlet™ Strawberry.
Take a tour of the collections and gardens that showcase some of the breeding work that has taken place in the Gardens such as the Holly Collection, Dogwood trees and the Student Run Farm.
