This grant funded initiative is co-sponsored by the NJ Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Governorís Council on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction. Naloxone, also known as Narcan among other names, is a medication used to reverse the effects of opioids especially in overdose. Since November 2015, over 800 people have been trained on how to respond effectively in an overdose situation.
We provide free Narcan training to individuals at risk for opioid overdose, as well as their family and friends, people in treatment programs, jails, drug courts and/or those seeking recovery support services.
