There it was again...that nagging noise...she hadn't really taught the pups speech but Tomahawk picked it up really well. Since Moki didn't speak much and when he did it was pretty simple, "hungry, sleepy" to let the world know that a mind did think. Since Tomahawk spoke the most it was his voice that rang clear in her head often. For some reason when ever she'd look at the pup it reminded her...his name. Tulip never got his name...but she remember those eyes...the color his build her pup wasn't far from who she hated most. Things were hard on her...for the longest of time she felt she was sick...she still didn't associate her labor with these pups.
Moki walked silently as he always did. He didn't speak often there wasn't much to say...He hated this situation but for reasons he couldn't understand he felt sorrow for his mother. She carried scars that went deep into her skin...and he felt that for some reason those scars were what caused her to lash out at them. Home was finally something he could see...to small to move and really only having his brother to lay next to...Moki felt a lot of love for Tomahawk. While his brother asked his questions he only hoped that their mother didn't scream at him...although she didn't scream her abuses...she said them so they'd sink into you mind and poison your soul. A pup couldn't endure this forever could they?
Tulip turned to her red pup that favored her attacker...what was a father. That horrible night play vividly in her mind...every time she looked at Tomahawk. He was the biggest reminder she had. "You will never have a father. But a father is a wolf who is there for his pups. At least that's what it looks like...I never had one" she admitted half mindedly as she drank from her pool, "we stay here" she said talking to her pups...the hatred was there...but at least she didn't eat them. To many nights she thought that snapping their necks was all too easy and could end her pain...but each morning would come and prove that if she could raise them get them away from her she was better than the wolf who left her for dead.
Moki turned to his brother, "You ever think she's hiding something?" he asked in a whisper...one directly in Tomahawks ear...and silent to anyone else.
