Indeed, she had come and gone to the packlands several times since her return from exile, when she had roamed the lands beyond Wolf Mountain, attempting to keep one step ahead of her dark-coated sibling while restoring her wounded son back to health. She had been here during the war...a war which thankfully had only seemed to brush a chilled hand ever so lightly across this territory and its inhabitants before vanishing, though every creature here had prepared to fight had it come to that. She had been here when the dragon had attacked her son, and been there with her alpha and friend to drive it from the land. Her son WindRacer had vanished after that, and the silver wolf, too wearied and exhausted from her travels off the mountain and the constant stress of imminent war upon her return, had been unable to follow him. Instead, she had rested in the pack, sleeping away some of her fatigue and trying to regain her strength. But she could not rest forever, and the last several weeks she had spent making forays to various parts of the mountain, vanishing for days on end in her searches. But it seemed she always searched in vain. She found only brief whispers of WindRacer's presence, and knew that he had lain at Traydon River for a time, but had no idea where he was now. She had caught DancingStarlight's scent in several places, and wasn't too worried for her, but she had not seen any signs of SwiftSilver either. Brief returns to the pack always seemed to coincide with Lone Zelda's absences, so she had not seen her friend in many days either. Indeed, the only familiar creature she had chanced upon was ForestAngel, her little Welsh Green dragon, and it was one find the silver wolf regretted making. ForestAngel was dead, the corpse of her dragon mostly eaten by the time she had found it. It was grief which had returned the silver wolf to familiar territory now, and the rain which splashed against the earth seemed a fitting complement to her mood. She travelled slowly, with her head low and tail down, expecting as always to find little here, but wanting at least the familiar scents to provide what comfort they could, to soothe her sorrow before she resumed her searches once more. She travelled slowly, her wounds from the failed hunt that had returned her to this mountain healed, but her limbs still stiff from the dampness in the air. She had not gone far into the territory when the winds, a constant companion in this pack, carried two scents to the small wolfs nose. One, a stranger, drew some interest, but it was the one that accompanied that seemed to ease some of the burden upon the silver wolf's heart, and she lifted her head slightly to draw it in more deeply, to be certain that she caught a fresh scent, and not merely that which hung upon the packlands as always. But there was no mistake....Lone Zelda was with the stranger. She debated joining the pair, but decided against it for the moment. If the stranger was a newcomer to the pack, she doubted she would, at the moment at least with grief still in her heart, provide good company. If the stranger were an attacker, she knew Lone Zelda would deal with him swiftly. So instead she choose a place in the grasses far downwind of the two, where she drew comfort from LZ's presence carried upon the breeze, and lifted her muzzle. She howled, briefly, but the song was enough to inform her alpha of both her presence and her patience...she would wait until his other business was concluded...she would wait as long as he wished.

But the reason for that was simple...she had not heard them. For it was only now, as the clouds took to spilling their watery contents upon the earth below, that the silver wolf once more slowly approached the packlands...once more returned home.
