Not that there wasn’t a good chance that he would find it anyway, sniffing around as he was about to do, in search of four wolves who were hard to find even for someone who had spent most of their time tracking them down. Exactly the reason she had not sent him after all of the missing individuals. That seemed pointless, which he probably would have realized early on, and since he already knew she was sending him on this errand for a purpose, she preferred that he think it was tied to some mysterious plot rather than just a way to keep him busy. As for her choice of targets, that was purely convenience. They sounded as if they might have a use, even if that was not necessarily true, and she already had a pretty good idea of where two of them were...which meant that she knew where he might turn up at one point or another. She could use them to help her estimate just how long it took him to pick up on a trail. She was sure it would come in handy to know how good he was a following his nose, though there was no doubt that he was at least fair at it, given his amount of experience.

Those are the only ones that I would have any use for, you can ignore any others." Aye, please ignore them. Just because she was about to send him roving all over the mountain looking for Ravenshadow’s folk did not mean she really wanted him to stumble across their encampment by Danson. Everything she was promising him was there.
