My mother-in-law passed away five years ago at the age of 87 and left me over 100 pieces of blue and white. The pieces are not a set; they’re of different patterns and sizes, some pristine and some cracked and glued. Some say “Made in Occupied Japan”, some are unmarked, and others are prominent maker’s marks.
When Mary was 12 or 13, her mother died and she lived in poverty with her three brothers and father. She told me she started babysitting and using her money to buy a piece of china from the thrift store in 1939 because it made her feel happy.
I am 75 years old. My granddaughter and her husband are both in the Air Force and I follow them from base-to-base, taking care of their twins.
My need for advice is this - I have packed boxes and boxes around for six years and stored them in my garage. It’s time for their next assignment and I have no need to take it all to my next home. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do? Thank you in advance.
