New collector"
Hi Tammy, it is always best to collect what you like first, then what you can afford. Over the course of the pattern's history, more than 400 potteries made the willow pattern in England alone. Then you have American potteries (like Buffalo), Japan, and the list goes on. There are several good reference books to help (although pricing is outdated), it will give you an idea of what was made. Look on our website's "Resources" page to see what has been published. Ebay is also a great way to see what is out there and what is selling. Some collectors specialize in a particular pattern ,like Booths or Burleigh, and then others collect and use whatever catches their eye. Join our group on Facebook, if you are on facebook. You can learn a lot there and chat with collectors around the world. Decide if you are going to specialize in a pattern or color, or just love it all. You will enjoy it, I know! Feel free to email me any time (willowware@aol.com), happy to help and answer questions as you begin your willow collecting journey!
