Willow and the Biddulph Grange Gardens,

If your public television station carries the hour long specials on England's National Trust properties, look for the program on the Biddulph Grange Gardens (near Stoke-on-Trent). The gardens, conceived and completed by James Bateman in the mid-19th century have a Chinese garden that is said to contain all of the features found on the Standard Willow pattern (except the figures!). In the program they show a willow pattern plate (looks like a very late Churchill example!) and talk about how Bateman, with his landscape architect, designed the garden after the plate. It's fun to watch. I hope you find it in your area. Better yet, I hope you can tavel to see the garden some day. Loren
