A thought. Bone dishes can get confused with sauce/gravy boat stands/liners. A bone dish normally has a flat base. A sauce/gravy boat stand/liner has a foot rim to hold it off the table as it would be hot from the sauce/gravy.
Spode's bone dishes and stands/liners were identical in shape and size at one time, with only the foot rim to differentiate.
