On January 13,2007, Andrew Pye listed on this Message Board an obscure website for Booths Collectors. It can be found if you click on Page 2 at the top of this page and scroll down to find it. Another good source of information on Booths patterns and marks is a large size soft-bound book "The Wonderful World of Booths China, A Field Guide" by Mervin and Susan Taylor. The dates for the mark you describe are given as "1912 onwards" in the "square" mark you described as a "book" mark. The website founder refers to the image behind the name label as a "gate". According to the website, the dates are 1948-80 for "Real Old Willow" pattern A8025. The Taylors tell us in their book that there are various formats for the mark, some of which have numbers on either side of the square that indicate the date of the piece. Sometimes the month digit is on the left and the year digits on the right: e.g., 2 on left and 74 on right means the piece was decorated in February 1974. The website also has dating information.
