Posted by Connie Rogers The mark, a lion carrying a pennant surrounded by a double circle is a mark used by Samuel Barker & Son (S.B.& S.)at the Don Pottery in Yorkshire c. 1851-93. Samuel Barker purchased the Don Pottery in July 1839. It had previously been owned by John and William Green who went bankrupt in 1834. The firm made the willow pattern, using a glaze with a pale blue tint that makes a very white background for the blue printed pattern.
