Posted by Connie Rogers The B53 on your marked Royal plate indicates that it was made in 1953. I haven't learned what the letter B stands for -- perhaps the month. That particular mark was used by Royal China Co. from 1949 through 1960. Most pieces also had the specific date mark in the 1950s. The company produced willow pattern for almost 40 years. The plant closed in 1986, and a public auction was held January 21,1987 of all the plant machinery and equipment.
