Posted by Connie Rogers on December 30, 2005, 12:50 pm One of the neat things about willow pattern is that people are always coming up with new ways to use the pattern elements to create new versions of willow. I just purchased a bone china mug with a new willow variation. It was produced by a graphic designer, Simon Reed, who selected from the 223 symbols that comprise Microsoft's internet typeface, Webdings. Where there is no exact Webding equivalent to the features of the willow pattern, the closest appropriate symbol is chosen. For example: the crooked fence becomes a pictogram of a graph and the willow tree is replaced by a palm. The result is a whimsical interpretation that will be recognized as willow by most of us fanatics. I found it on eBay where there are more. You can also contact willowwebdings@simongraphic.co.uk.
