Her shoulders had stripes, which stopped where the white fur of her chest began. Her mouth stretched widely into a yawn, showing small sharp teeth, that were only partly developed, as she was still a kit. The back of her lowered ears were black, and from her fore head, a stripe trailed down at both sides, stopping at each pale green eye. ...The ocelot stretched her spotted forepaws, spreading each individual finger apart and flexing her claws, angered that she had to wake up. The feline cub heavily picked herself up and trotted out of the folaige which had consumed her, and glanced idly around. The river splashed against the shore, charred trees rising over the river and bending over it like malevolent shadows. A few green shoots spread from the burnt trees, as they still strived to live. Autumn rose and climbed onto one of the trees that bent over the river, resting on an outstretched branch. She glanced down at the rushing water below her. Fearfully. Longingly. Part of her wanted to jump in, and let it carry her away, while the other part of her clung to the charred bark for dear life. But Autumn soon relaxed, resting her head on the rough bark and allowing her eyelids to fall slightly. The tree shaded her from the suns hot rays, and the cool water flowing several feet beneath her helped to keep the wild cat cool. Lonership was forcibly embraced, yet the young kit despised it.

...The young cat's eyes opened as cruel rays of sunlight thrust their way through her eyelids, proudly announcing the rising of the sun. Another day. The ocelot sighed, ears lowering themselves over her spotted cranium. As her green eye's stretched open, she shut them again, then slowly opened them, watching her surroundings. Still in the same old place. It had been in her dreams that she had found a parent, but the sun had interupted, and she never was taken home.
