The phoenix was sitting in silence for a time, only hearing the sound of his own embers touching the ground. In his mind, he was content to stay that way, but something broke him free. A strange new voice caught his attention. His black eyes quickly fell upon the wolf that had been brave enough to approach. Tanato remained silent for a time, as if mulling over the question.
He knew the answer, but he wasn't so inclined to relinquish that information unless he felt the canine deserved to know. Tanato ruffled his firey plummage and allowed it to settle before he spoke, "I am whatever Phoenix I choose to be." His gaze remained on the mortal creature for a moment before he spoke again, "To what ends do you seek my blessing, canine?"
