Are you trying to "smack" the back of the ball with the club? If you are, don't.
In other words remember to swing at the ball, rather than trying to "hit" the ball. Try keeping your hands and wrists real loose during the swing, to the point where it feels like the clubhead is lagging way behind and your going to slice....I bet you don't slice. At impact it should feel as though your hands are even with or slightly ahead of the ball. Whenever I start hooking, I just remind myself to keep my hands and wrists loose throughout the swing, that usually helps. Good Luck.
