Fledgling Sparrow Release Guidance Needed

I need guidance, been raising a baby sparrow I found 10 days ago, it's fledgling size now but how do I have it learn to eat seeds on it's own and drink water? It still has baby lips. Some "do gooders" told me basically to just put it outside and see if someone takes care of it, meaning some other sparrows. I dont see that happening. I have a small cage I will put him in during the day by the feeder area to see the others eating, in hopes he learns. No lectures please, already had enough of those, need constructive guidance.
