Posted by Paul Miller --Previous Message-- Tanya, You should definitely put it back in the nest. It is an old wive's tale that the parents will "smell" humans and reject the baby. In fact, most birds have a terrible sense of smell. If it is fully feathered, the parents were probably starting it's "flight training" and it is not uncommon for some baby birds to spend up to two days on the ground under the supervision of thier parents. It's very important to get it back to it's parents as wet bread will not provide nearly enough nutrition for a young growing bird. The parents will know better what to feed it. After putting it back in the nest, watch it for an hour or two if possible. If the bird jumps back out and there is no interaction with the parents what so ever, then you should probably take the bird to your local wildlife/bird sanctuary. Put it in a small box and place toilet or facial tissue in the bottom of it for transport. Hope this helps.
