: A week ago my grandaughter came home
: with a very weak and dehydrated baby
: bird. With baby cereal and strips of
: meat and fruit it is now a fat
: healthy bluejay that has tripled in
: size and is very affectionate.Would
: it be better off with us or should
: we attempt to let it go? will it
: survive?
Well, if it's very affectionate and responsive to humans, it wouldn't be wise to release the bluejay. Wild bluejays are vicious and territorial. The poor thing would not last very long on its own, depending on human care.
I have a bluejay fledgling that won't eat. I have to force its food. I'm using dog food, mixed in a blender. It's a good source of protein, like worms, and I've used it before on other birds...
I think it's tongue is cut, but I', not sure. It has two spikes on the back of its tongue, and seems sensitive about it. Is this normal?
