I have a baby bluejay my cat brought to me 5 days ago. He is unharmed and doing well. His parents are taking care of him as I leave his "makeshift nest" outside during the day. I have no way to determine how old he is and if I should be feeding him as well. Does anyone have a photo they can post that will help me determine his age so I can see if he will be flying soon.... so I can let me cat out again
?
: That is a common misconsception. Most
: birds have a very poor sense of
: smell and could careless if a human
: has touch thier baby. All foundling
: birds should be at least be tried to
: returned thier nests, often a parent
: bird knows the baby isn't in the
: nest and hiding the baby in a near
: by bush is all that's needed to
: return them to parental care. This
: is called a feldging and parent bird
: will continue to care for the bird
: even if it's "jumped the
: nest"

: Why do you just leave it be? A baby
: blue jay that it touched by a human
: will never be accepted by its
: parents again

: Please read message from 7/27 from
: Neese. We raised our little one, I
: put the info on what we fed her in
: that response to another person
: looking for info on feeding.
:
: Our chip loved dry cat food like
: Deli Cat that had been placed in a
: plastic storage bad with water and
: allowed to puff up. I've talked to
: other people who have found that dry
: cat food that is softened with water
: has worked for them too. Chipper
: loved crackers broken up and things
: like canned peas, lima beans, purple
: hull peas and such. We would give
: her a spoonful each morning of the
: veggies
: break up 2-3 crackers and a heaping
: tablespoon of the moistened cat
: food.
:
: She drank water and took her bath
: from the water pans we had down for
: her. She was handicapped and could
: not fly so we had very low pans.
:
: Good Luck

: I found a baby blue jay yesterday.
: It
: is flappng its wings but is`nt
: flying. I don`t want to put it
: outside until it does. It`s feathers
: are blue and he is very noisy so I
: think he must be old enough to fly.
: Any suggestions? Also what should I
: feed it? thanks
