Hi! I found a litle sparrow fledgling yesterday- it's much smaller than any other baby sparrow I've found before. The nearest rehab center isn't open until Monday, and they only take baby birds that are injured/sick, so I'm trying to figure out if this little one is all right or not. Is it normal for a featherless "pinky" sort of baby to have an ENORMOUS distended stomach/rear? I can tell he's a bit blocked up, because when I accidentally touched his back end (when he wriggled in my hand), all of a sudden for the first time in many many hours he pooped a _massive_ amount- more than the nearly-full-grown sparrow I've been nursing along has ever made in a whole day! Is he injured, do you think? Is there anything I can do to help him be in less discomfort and stay alive until Monday if he is hurt or unwell?
