shoulda been.
We did get a bit damp with something like 4 inches of rain in a couple of hours. I heard
the Possum corner of camp got re-named "3-rivers".
Even so, our spirits weren't dampened. In fact, some "spirits" were uncorked to help pass
the time while we watched it rain.
There was a special "Lizard Beer Match" where we shot at a lizard gong. After a hit we
stepped back another 5 yards and shot again.
If you missed you could buy back in. If you missed twice in a row you were out. We just
about ran out of field to step back in before the end
when Lizard himself won the "Lizard Beer Match". He was shootin' Blue Jacket's rifle and
gives all the credit to that.
Lizard also won the "Rifle Toss" in which he was the only participant.
Queen Ester wasn't up to snuff and Lizard literally tossed her on the ground several times,
stuffed her muzzle-first deep in the dirt,
and then threw her in the creek!
Which brings us to the Lizard Trial...
Lizard was brought up on charges of Cruel and Unusual Abuse of Queen Ester.
Whitlow was the Prosecuting Attourney and Judge Whip Bean presided.
J-9 and Nappy were called as witnesses for the prosecution but Nappy was bribed with a
$75 cookie.
Bump 2 (Steve) was appointed as the Defense Attourny and did an admirable job
in getting Lizard a reduced sentence on the grounds that he is "bat-shit crazy".
No man present could argue the point.
However Whip produced evidence that the whole reason that Queen Ester was acting up in the
first place was due to
a dryball in her bore. It was a miracle that she was going off at all!
After it was over, Lizard was sentenced to recieve the camp asshole award, a dingleberry-dryball
award, and a restraining order.
First ten places for the shoot are as follows;
1. Bugbite
2. MS Jim
3. Tony Logan
4. Steve Flannigan
5. Jaime Keele
6. Scott Bumpus
7. Brad Hahn
8. "Nightcrawler" Carl
9. Jethro
10. Jerry "Flint Rockhard" Beck
Several new members were added to the club;
John Jarboe
Tony Oliver
Tim Hall
Rocky Brewington
Rob Sweely
Paige Nash
Brett Bailey
And if Kevin May wasn't already he is now.
Can't hardly wait until next year's Widowmaker Frolic! Be There!

Grizz Tracks, Friendship Spring Shoot 2016
I got there Wednesday evening about 9pm about 2:30am I realized I brought the wrong mattress for the
bunk so I made a 3:00am run to the WalleyWorld in Laurenceburg to get a air mattress. As I climbed
back into the cot the sun was starting to arise. The rest of the nights went much better. The first
Widowmaker event was the Big Honking Military Caliber Flintlock Musket Match. We had a bunch go
through despite splitting into two groups it still took over three hours to get through. At the fall shoot
we are going to do something different. Instead of all of us showing up at the same time we will have
until 3:30pm Sunday to go through the match. That is all day Saturday and most of Sunday. By shooting
on both days this should speed thing up. When the shooting was over Jethro came out on top.
The next Widowmaker run match was Fort Greenville Tuesday afternoon. The team of Scott Ballentine,
Don Hulvey and Matt Rosemeyer took first place kind of far ahead of the other teams. Of course all three
men are Widowmakers. Manyklatch did not do well with the team by card draw. He drew the German
and his student. I swear I did see the cards shuffled! I sure did get a dirty look from Klatch! At the end of
the week on Friday Matt Rosemeyer shot a 90 on the Smoothbore Agg. It has been a long time since
a man has shot a 90, J-9 did it in the ladies class a couple years back.
I do not have the results at this time but all but a couple Widowmakers won medals I even won one I
thinmk!
I got assigned a new Widowmaker duty at this shoot, designated driver! I drove J-9 back to her tin tee pee
in her big white tank. I could not figure out how to roll up the windows on the tank. The next morning J-9
had no idea how she got back across the creek. Luckily the next morning her neighbors told her how she
and the tank got back.
