Hi I also have a westie and a cairn. I live in Alberta canada and in this province we do not get fleas. However my friend is a vet and what I do is give my dogs fish oil pills one each a day and I also bath them every week. I find that helps with my westies itching.You can give your dogs benadryl but only when their itching is really bad or they get a bug bite, not great for everyday.
