Thanks for your replies. Had both my westies out the other night for a run (one attached to bike and the other ran along behind). Went for quite a few miles (around 5 - 7 miles) with no problems, but the ground they were running on was fairly soft so would be gentle on their paws. You could tell from their happy expressions that they both loved it. I thought that they would be absolutely exhausted by the time I returned home but no - there they were energetically chasing each other round the house for a few more laps!!
