I would wait. as I have mentioned in this site before, our westie is 4 years old, basicly our first baby and very much the center of our attention before our baby was born. Our westie was very well socialized as a pup and is the friendliest dog you would ever meet. However, once our son started crawling, we had several issues with our westie. To make a long story short , Our westie tried biting our baby 2x and ended up biting him once while I left the baby with a babysitter. We ended up hiring a dog trainer (not cheap, at $110 a hour!!!). Almost $500 later we are happy family again, but we constantly train our westie and have to constantly keep an eye on him with all children who enter our house. Take my advice, westies truly are the greatest little dogs, but wait until your children are teenagers and then get one of these guys. Hopefully this will save both you and the dog a lot of hearbreak!!!
