What is the DOCP injection? I know that the dog is currently taking 2 1/2 mil. of Prednisone everyday and also 0.1 mil. of Fludrocortisone daily and would probably new need blood panels done every 4-6 monthes to monitor his liver, etc.. The dog (Dakota) has only been diagnosed with Addisons within the past 2 months and the family doesn't want to deal with the costs or the reactions to the medications. I was told that the Vet bills were very high when he was finally diagnosed because he was so sick, that meant intravenious and a 4 day stay at the Vets because he was so sick. Will introducing him to a new family with 2 new westies throw him into a downward spiral because of the stress it would cause him? I will ask my Vet all these questions too, I would just appreciate any first hand knowledge. I will check out the website. Thank you.
