Liz, I think you should count your blessings. I would guess that if he is playful when awake then there is nothing much wrong with him. Puppies are like babies and need a lot of sleep to reserve their energy. He sounds wonderful, hope you have many years of love and companionship with him. BTW, what did you call him?
