Posted by John Patterson on 12/7/2004, 7:32 pm, in reply to "The Red Lion Pub" Further to my earlier messages on this subject. I now know that the highest numbered house in Front Street is 76 (ish). There isn't numbers in the 170s. I also know that old pubs is a topic in West Life, the village newsletter. I have written to Cllr. Martin Roberts on the subject. However I am still looking for this ex-pub. I presume it is now someone's home. In the 1901/1891 census it is on Front Street next to Lockeys Yard (not Lockey's Bus Garage which was later and off Station Road.). I cannot find Lockeys Yard on a current A-Z nor could I find it during a visit to West last Thursday. There were houses in Lockeys Yard at that time.
