Some, if not all of the sons were miners and when the pit where the worked closed, some moved to Barnsley as did Ellen (later Holliday), to go into domestic service there. As yet I not researched John's father nor have I technical "proven" all of the above. The bulk comes by word of mouth from a second cousin, passed down by her mother who was Mary Richardson and I believe, was a daughter of James.

There could still be a link. Although further back in time. John Richardson was born in West Auckland on 25th July 1846 and died on 11th January 1903.
