The birth certificate dated 27 August 1876 of my maternal grandfather, Thomas Clark, gives his parents address as TILE SHEAD HOUSE, West Auckland. Has anyone a clue as to where this may have stood? I imagine the SHEAD (sic)
could have been a local spelling for SHED. By the time of the 1901 census they were living in Chapel Street.
