I cannot recall the name of the sweet shop, but I believe Pi Clarke (the cinema 'security officer' or Chucker-out) or his family had a pecuniary interest in it. Apropos liquorice sticks, I remember them also selling a chewy black comestible we called 'Spanish'. In appearance it looked like 6" cut from a bicycle tyre.
