: Hello, I am trying to locate
: photographs of the old Johnson
: Terrace as it was when Mary Ann
: Cotton lived there, or photographs
: of the house before it was
: demolished. Also photographs of the
: Chemist shop once owned by Jonathan
: Townend, which I think was also
: owned by W. Dowson Chemist. Any
: other photographs taken during Mary
: Ann's period of living there,
: shop's, buildings, even characters
: knowing or having an association
: with Mary Ann Cotton. The details
: will be hopefully included into a
: manuscript being written by myself,
: and if included full and total
: copyright will be named to any
: individual who can provide such
: details. Many thanks and thank you
: for reading this message.
: Kind Regards.

I am unaware of Mary Ann Cotton's association with Brooke Cottage, but it was still standing the last time I went by there. The terraced houses on either side have certainly gone, but my old home at 46 Darlington Rd and what we knew as 'The Blue House' (aka Brooke Cottage) seemed to have escaped the hammer. The OS map also still shows it - see http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=417500&Y=525000&width=700&height=400&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=&zm=1&scale=25000
The two houses of which I speak are clearly to be seen on the east side of the A68, north of the cemetery.
