Posted by martin roberts The photo is not, I think of West Auckland, despite the name in the window, but shows a public house owned by West Auckland Brewery, hence the advert. It might be possible to trace it through directories, given that you have the licencee's name over the door. If you had access to the County Record Office you could look through village entriesin directories around 1900, but it might be a long job. Has the 1891 census been indexed for the County, that might be another way? Martin --Previous Message--

Pat
: i have attached a photo and wondered
: if anyone could throw any light on
: it. We are not sure when or where it
: was taken, or who the people are.
: The chap in the centre with the flat
: cap is Louis Proudlock Draffan born
: in 1874 so I would guess it was
: taken around the beginning of the
: 1900s. I am researching my family
: tree and it would be very helpful if
: someone could identify any of the
: people in the photo, or indeed throw
: any light on it.
: Keeping my fingers crossed.
