Sorry, there never was a #194 Darlington Rd in West Auckland. I had the good fortune to be born at 1 Darlington Road at the north end of the street in 1932, but before WWII started the family moved to 46 Darlington Rd at the southern end (literally). 46 still stands but the rest of the original street has gone. There are 'new' houses on the opposite side of the road now, but how these were numbered and if they retain the Darlington Rd name I would not know.
There are many 'Darlington Road's in other local villages, and even a 'West Auckland Road' in Darlington; the latter might well go up to #194.
Who are these Canadians with possible roots in West Auckland?
With regard to #31 Darlington Road, the still redoubtable West Auckland figure of Arthur Towers was born there or thereabouts. Someone should tap his memory.
