Now that the eclipse has come and gone, what's up for today? I am feeling very thankful and relieved. My best friend from 7th grade who has show dogs had a very sick dog. Her vet and 2nd opinion wasn't sure what was wrong. This was over the weekend. She kept getting sicker and sicker so in desperation they got her in Sunday at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital a.k.a. Penn Vet in Philly. It is a teaching hospital and one of the best in the nation. I think they are somehow connected to the equine center where Barbaro the racehorse was treated when he broke his leg.
My friend drove there and wound up sleeping in her car in their parking lot waiting for news. Anyway after a ton of tests and ultrasounds they found something in her abdomen. They operated and found an oblong thing about an inch long embedded in her intestine. No one knows what it is, but Livie apparently found it somewhere and ate it. Then it got stuck. They operated, got it out and are now watching her blood work because that had become really bad. Today she ate for the first time in 4 days and is up and about. Depending on her bloodwork today, they might be sending her home this afternoon. Everyone is so thankful and relieved even though my friend is much poorer now. But Livie is doing well and hopefully will recover.
This was all done through Facebook with my friend giving us updates almost like realtime. She has done this before when her Hb was dying and it was like you were right there in the hospital room with her as she kept you updated and you offered her love and encouragement. The wonders of technology.
Supper tonight will be simple. Pigs in a cloud otherwise known as a hot dog with a scoop of mashed potatoes (and cheese) on top baked in the oven. I will have a tossed salad, Hb decided he is not eating any vegetables anymore, and we will have applesauce.
Everyone enjoy your Tuesday. Stay well.
