hello,
if you get a big one about the turtles size he might get a nip in the fin but thats all. as for the green on the shell, our red eared slider had green on his shelland when we went to the vet, it turned out to be shell rot. if you have other turtles in the cage with him, seperate him from all the rest. see a vet and if its not, take a toothbrush to the shell.
