I worked there part time for about 4 years when I was a student at WCI, back in the early '70's. Made many of those burgers and fried onions and the closest I have come is using Maple Leaf pure pork sausage (you buy it in the frozen meat section) mixed with crushed saltine crackers, an egg and just a little ground beef. I must say, it is pretty close. There is enough flavour in the pork sausage that you do not need to add any spices unless you choose..... as for the fried onions, when they would start to get low, we just added another bowl of them, and you just keep turning them over. We always piled the burgers on top of the onions when they were finished cooking.... hope this helps some of you per Connie Deighan.
