Chocolate Water Cake
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups hot water
3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
And here are the steps:
Step1:
In a bowl, add flour, white sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Mix with a big spoon.
Step 2:
Now, add milk, oil, and vanilla extract and mix with a spoon until smooth.
Step 3:
Spread the batter in an ungreased Pyrex dish.
Step 4:
In a separate bowl, add brown sugar and 4 Tablespoons cocoa powder and mix with a spoon.
Step 5:
Sprinkle this over your batter in the dish.
Step 6:
Pour hot water over everything in your dish but DO NOT stir.
Step 7:
Place your dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
When the cake was ready, the bottom had a layer of chocolaty/fudgy syrup and the top had a cakey/brownie texture.
Prior to serving, I cut out square slices and placed them in a dish and poured that syrup over them. I topped off each slice with a swirl of whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
Raven suggested to serve these warm. I served mine at room temperature and they still tasted great!
