The reason I believe GH has stuck by Stevie G and Diouf, is because of their unquestionable dedication to doing well for our club. Obviously GH feels Markus has lost this, and along with it his temperament - demonstrated by stamping on a sheffield wednesday player and headbutting an everton youngster.
GH gives the reason that Babbel has shown a lack of respect and appreciation for the staff and fans' support. Have you spoken to Mr. Babbel in private recently or seen any of his actions 'behind the scenes'? None of us have, so we should trust the judgment of GH - and I for one undoubtedly do. He has the right idea, that regardless of ability, a player must pull the same way as the rest of the team. Not necessarily nod to everything he says, but they must work for him or they will not stay. That is the same in any job I think you will find. You are given objectives to work to, and if you refuse you will not be there long.
RE: Fowler and McManaman - Fowler has done nothing since he left in my eyes to show that GH did wrong in selling him, he is still not playing to his potential, and he's nearing the crest of the hill that is his career. Stevie Mac is actually very useful for Real, contrary to certain opinions voiced here earlier, and I believe we could make use of him as well. He would provide a little more in midfield to connect with the forwards.
Fowler - NO
Macca - YES

: OK firstly the racist comment is totally out of order.
: Mate get a life, we all work hard and don't get paid
: as much as our fav footballers do! Thats life. Build
: a bridge. deal with it.
: Secondly I am in two minds on this whole GH/Babbel
: incident. It did surprise me given Babbel was a hero
: after his Treble winning season heroics and back
: from the brink from that disease. However there is
: more to this. In fact the last time GH did something
: like this it was with a certain Mr Stevie G, mind u
: not as scathing. Babbel is gone - forget it. He is
: so out of the club. I am still shocked by the
: comments of GH and although I don't condone Babbels
: recent actions I have to admit that Mr.Diouf's
: spitting incidents at West Ham and Celtic, Stevie
: G's dreadful two footed challenged earlier in the
: season, etc, etc did get GH's full support in the
: public with him pleading innocence, injustice, etc,
: etc.
: One wonders if Houllier wasn't so brutal with the
: aforementioned given their status at the club? Diouf
: the new boy, perhaps GH showed a sympathetic side to
: the `youngster' on foreign soil. Not sure!
: Remember just how ruthless GH can be (and I am a fan of
: his) in his dealings (fowler, anelka, westerveld,
: etc). Anyway I am sure the whole story will
: eventually come out.
: Pesonally I think GH is venting, after a season of
: defending his and his teams actions. And rightly so
: us the fans are disappointed. Its been a crap season
: by Liverpool standards. Simple as that - at least we
: bit the scum in the cup.
: Also I am soooooooooooooooo sick of this crap about
: just coz I live in Australia that I am not as good a
: fan as say someone who lives close to the club. I
: support my team, heck I even run a site for them
: (http://liverpool.senet.com.au - shameless plug), so
: stop that utter crap. I can't help it I live in
: Sunny ol' Downunder land and not Gloomy England
: Blame my parents who migrated from Malta nearly 40
: years ago!
: Cheers, aye aye, calm down lads
: Go the Reds!

: this MUST be the most disgraceful post ever written on
: this forum !
: you have spent all this season singing Heskey's praises
: ... heskey is the best, heskey is the greatest blah
: blah blah. we respected yr opinion although it was
: abundantly clear that you were in the absolute
: minority...
: but opinionating is one thing, and INSULTING and being
: RACIST is a totally different thing.
: yr racist comments are not welcome here , mate, take
: them some place else.
: being a Reds supporter means u form part of a big
: community ... irrespective of colour, race, religion
: and any other factor!
: i think u should keep this in mind before posting
: comments like "But the player is GERMAN for
: christ sake! Those bastards are arrogant mother
: f*ck*rs! "
:

: Come on, cut this crap! Its not like we're losing an
: Owen
: or a Gerrard or a HESKEY here! Dont you know that in
: the mean time Heskey may be in danger of losing his
: place in the team! All because of stupid
: speculation! People needed a scap goat and they
: picked on poor EMILE!
: Babbel didnt even play the whole year round and
: Houllier gave him a million chances to show his
: fitness and dedication. But the player is GERMAN for
: christ sake! Those bastards are arrogant mother
: f*ck*rs! He gets in a week what i would get in 5
: years and he feels frustrated! Frustrated my ass!
: Let him work from 7 till 7 every day of his life
: behind a desk bursting with work and no gratitute
: with 1/100 of his pay and we see how frustrated he
: gets! Ingrateful bast**d!
: Houllier is coach! He decided! He knows more about his
: players then we do. So if he says Babbel has to go,
: Babbel jumps on his wheel chair and leaves. Plain
: and simple!

: Regarding this issue, I think we need to be reasonable.
: We do not know all the issues surrounding this, and
: probably never will.
: What we do know is that GH is a man who will not
: tolerate anyone acting against what he deems to be
: the best interests of the club. We have seen in the
: past, in the way he has dealt with players like
: Ince, Fowler and Litmanen, that he does not allow
: sentiment or the apparent talents of a player to get
: in the way.
: In reality, it is unlikely that Babbel would have
: played for us again anyway, as he seems to have been
: struggling with his fitness. Obviously this will
: affect him psychologically, and cause him to react
: unhappily.
: It is probably best for both parties if he moves on. If
: he has acted in an improper way toward staff or
: fans, it is understandable due to recent pressures,
: but still has to be dealt with.
: I for one will never forget his performances in our
: treble winning season, where I think he was the
: integral part of our team, always there and he
: lifted us to the next level. He has been missed
: immensely through his illness, and if he never makes
: it back to full fitness, football has lost several
: years of a true talent.
: I wish him all the best for wherever his future may
: take him, as a true Liverpool fan I appreciate his
: contributions for the time he was fit and well for
: us.
: Andy.

: Two wrongs actions will never make a right one!!!
: I still cannot figure how you manged in your mind to
: link two completly differnt actions. Moreover, I
: still cannot figure what your line of thought is.
: So, dear Liverpool fan much more than us, accoridng to
: you the fact that MB headbutted a young Everton
: player is a disgrace to LFC. Therfore, according to
: you Gerrard should as well be a liverpool disgrace
: becasue he needlessly tackled and injured Le Saux
: during the dying moments of the last PL game???? Or
: it is better to say that frustration, nerves and
: tension, unluckily enough are part of this game and
: may casue unwanted actions?
: The only questions that should have been raised were;
: Was GH right when he publically critised MB? Was MB
: right to react the way he did during that WC game?
: Personally I think that both GH & MB were wrong
: becasue the internal matters of the club should
: never be overtly displayed!
