Nige & Paul Pete quotes "been to a Freelander on a couple of occasions which intermittently cuts out and leaves customer stranded for a few mins then starts up again" The Cam position sensor on this engine will not cause the engine to cut out whilst the engine is running. Try it on next one you get in. Yes if the signal is not correct when you start the engine then it will fail to start. So I cannot see the point in changing the Cam sensor. I standby what I first said, access the system correctly and code read the memory, is the first step he should take.......
