Posted by Chris These outlets believe that metal was bullshit, it never existed, or that shit like Bon Jovi,Poison, and Cinderella were REAL METAL BANDS! When MTV got rid of Headbanger's Ball,I was glad. They STOPPED PLAYING METAL and made the show a total embarassment. Besides...look at most of the best metal bands that ever existed? Iron Maiden? Kreator? Raven? The thing is that America has ALWAYS had a great underground metal scene. Bands like Hel-Star, Manilla Road, and Cirith Ungol busted their asses making records for a select market and they wound up with modest sales...but the people who bought those recors either knew what they were buying or they were die-hard underground fans of metal. That is why those bands never got a succesful as they should have. But think about what would have happened if those bands DID sell huge amounts of records? The die-hard underground fans would have cried "Sellout" faster than they can yell out the name "Metallica". Eventually, the underground would have become mainstream, and bands like Hel-Star or Cirith Ungol might be making the same music that Metallica has pumped out for almost six years now...whinny,horrendous,tedious bullshit that no-one would respect. Personally,I don't WANT metal to gain mainstream acceptance. I mean, bands like Gamma Ray and Sodom should have great sales, but if they have to become a bunch of Metallica clones to do so,then I feel sorry for losing great underground bands as well as losing a bit of the underground scene I'm sure we all enjoy.

Well...can you blame people now at days for thinking the METAL is dead? Look at what they are told to believe by MTV and Radio.
All from Europe. I'm not saying that American bands are inferior...because they aren't...but look at those bands that helped build metal from it's foundation and you'll see most of them aren't American...they're European.
