Thanks for your comments, obviously spoken by someone who has a lot knowledge and experience.
Yes we advertised the post, 6 were interviewed and one chosen. Nothing was hidden from the committee and no-one refused the job, one person was offered it based on a combination of certain criteria. All applicants were asked the same questions and were known of (not specifically by) the committee.
The comment was, that the standard was really high and that in their own right, each of the applicants could have been chosen, all credit to them. However, the committee chose one. We are all human, we make the best choice we can. The fotball committee felt after much discussion and that Lee Cowley ticked the most boxes. No-one is perfect, and next season will hopefully prove the committee was correct.
It is our responsibility now to support the whole new management team in the coming season and with continuing economic recession, things are going to be tough, both on and off the field.
Personally, I am quite excited by the new structure, I think that the committe is looking to the future, to devlop young players and bring them forward, it is the responsibility of a club like ours, a community club, to uphold that ethos.
Last year, I said to the committee, it would take 5 years to develop the club, last year was a year of stablisation, after random forced change. This year is also change, but structured and planned. It is not one person, but many peoples dream. With hard work and commitment, I hope the dream will become a reality, many may laugh, but one thing I felt when I jioned Arlesey, people had stopped hoping, stopped believing. Maybe I am an idealist, but I thought that was what football supporting was all about.
